Art & Style: Where Fashion Meets Art

A thoughtfully curated exhibition that brings together an interesting collection of original work representing some of the most talented artists in Ireland today.
The exhibition that takes place in Brown Thomas, will comprise of six Artists whose work will be paired alongside fashion designers. The artists featured are Eva 0′ Donovan, Shane O’Malley, Daniel Holfeld, Gill and Jill, Shane O Driscoll and Emma Sheridan.
Art and Style begins on March 15th and aims to draw attention to the vibrant arts scene that exists in Ireland today. All the artists will be represented in the Brown Thomas windows and every week for six weeks, they will host a week-long exhibition in store on Level One which will launch each Thursday. Speaking about the initiative, Brown Thomas Creative Director John Redmond says;
Fashion and Art go hand in hand – each drawing inspiration from the other.
Eva O Donovan’s eclectic images combine surface pattern with portraiture. She is influenced by photography, the portraits of Gainsborough, Hollywood and paints striking images in oils on richly patterned printed textiles, wallpaper and historic textiles.
Duo Jill and Gill( Jill Deering artist and musician and Gillian Henderson, printmaker and designer) are noted for their drawings skills combined with strong images which are screen printed on clothing with arresting visual experiments and messages.
Emma Sheridan has closely observed the body in her vibrant drawings that capture the female form in figurative and colourful shapes.
Shane O Driscoll draws inspiration from architecture and relies on asymmetrical graphics and precise mathematical execution in his screen prints. The internationally renowned photographer Daniel Holfeld known for his bright sun filled images will be included.
Shane O Malley is inspired by graffiti and paints in vibrant colours with strong abstract geometric patterns.
To commence the exhibition Eva O Donovan will host the first exhibition in store from March 15th, Gill and Jill on March 22nd Shane O’ Driscoll on March 29th, Daniel Holfeld on April 5th, Shane O’ Malley on April 12th and lastly Emma Sheridan on April 19th.
